Title:

100 Edit-a-thon Ideas

Theme:

Relationship Building & Support
+ Inclusion and Diversity
+ Editor Recruitment & Retention

Type of session:

Panel

Abstract:

Edit-a-thons are great ways to introduce new editors to editing, add diverse and often overlooked content to Wikipedia, and build community, but sometimes it is difficult to figure out what to edit. After this session, you will never have that problem again! We are going to dive into 100 edit-a-thon ideas and provide specific examples of how to engage editors at any skill level. Anyone involved in edit-a-thons, from very informal meetups to highly structured tutorials, will find something to inspire them! We will also do crowdsourcing during this session, hearing from the audience about edit-a-thons they have been to or hosted that were particularly successful. At the end of the session we hope to share out a resource of ideas that can be added to over time and exist on Wikipedia.
