This submission has been designated as a lightning talk at WikiConference North America 2019.

Title:

New Tools and Stuff - Wishlist Edition

Theme:

Tech & Tools

Type of session:

Presentation

Abstract:

I will present tools and scripts that I've been working on since my last presentation of this type at Wikipedia Day NYC 2019. This time, I plan to focus on tools that have been frequently requested by the community. The ability to watchlist a section or set a timed reminder are two projects that I intend to have working by the conference. I will also be covering various user-interface improvements, such as true live wikitext editing (instantly-updating, Stack Overflow style); actually showing images that appear in diffs; showing section names in diffs; showing a "minimap" of big diffs; the ability to "expand" the context of diffs (starting to see a pattern here?) and more.

Special requests:

Have you presented on this topic previously? If yes, where/when?:

Yes. I did a very similar presentation last year at WCNA '18 (covering tools since my last presentation), and I've done shorter ones at Wikipedia Day NYC '17, '18, and '19.

If your submission is not accepted, would you be open to presenting your topic in another part of the program? (e.g. lightning talk or unconference session)

Yes, absolutely.
