This kind of database would allow for an application like one shown in your link, but more expressive and detailed, and editable by the Wikimedia community at large. For example, see the [https://tools.wmflabs.org/scholia/topic/Q84263196 Scholia profile on COVID-19]. The creation of this separate Wikibase is to allow for more rapid iteration and experimentation.
