I am a data scientist working at the University of Virginia and a contributor to Wikimedia projects, especially at the interface between scholarly research, education and Wikimedia.
As for WikiConference North America, I attended the 2015 one in Washington, D.C. and plan to attend the 2019 edition in Boston (see my notes here). I have also attended several similar events in Eurasia.
