Title:
- Librarybase Edit-a-Thon
Type of session:
- Edit-a-thons or Workshops (30-120 min)
Session theme(s):
- Credibility, Missing pieces
Abstract:
The Librarybase project seeks to create the "collaborative card catalog of everything" using Wikibase, the same software as Wikidata. Librarybase makes it possible to assign expressive metadata to works outside of the traditional world of publishing and bibliography, including metadata for websites and alternative publications. Whether you're working to improve the quality of citations on Wikipedia or want to improve documentation of underrepresented literature, Librarybase could be a useful tool for your work.
This edit-a-thon is good for staging datasets for mass import, figuring out data modeling requirements, and cleaning up metadata that is already there from previous imports. And in true wiki spirit, we'll be figuring out much as we go along, as Librarybase is a fairly new project.
