Title:

Trust Indicators: Design workshop for news credibility and fluency

Type of session:

Edit-a-thons or Workshops (30-120 min)

Session theme(s):

Credibility

Abstract:

Through the 8 Trust Indicators®, people can easily choose trustworthy news to inform critical decisions about their lives, communities and governments. Hundreds of news agencies globally have successfully completed a rigorous training and review process to incorporate them in their newsrooms, online and on air. Not only that, the Trust Indicators can help anyone assess news reliability anywhere. Join me in a workshop to imagine ways to integrate them into Wikipedia to enhance media literacy, counter disinformation by elevating news with integrity, and empower editors to identify high-quality sources of information. How might editors and users apply the Trust Indicators to enhance news fluency and fight disinformation? How might we make them easily accessible?
