This edit-a-thon celebrates the groundbreaking contributions and legacy of BIPOC scientists across North America, with a special focus on highlighting Latinx innovators during Latin American Heritage Month. By crossing borders (culturally and geographically), we aim to amplify the stories of scientists who have shaped our world but are often underrepresented on Wikipedia.

While Indianapolis may not be widely known for its Latino heritage, we’ve partnered with the Indiana Historical Society to shine a spotlight on key figures in Indiana’s Latino history!

We’re featuring four remarkable individuals—none of whom currently have Wikipedia articles. To celebrate their legacies and share their stories, we’ve created special postcards highlighting each of these historical figures.

Our goal? To spark interest and inspire Wikipedians attending the conference to contribute to this important project by helping these figures gain the recognition they deserve on Wikipedia.

Join us in bringing these stories to life and preserving the rich history of Indiana’s Latino community!
