San Diego Central Public Library

WikiConference North America will be held in San Diego, California, Friday - Monday, October 7-10, 2016 at two venues:

• Balboa Park museums and cultural institutions - Friday, October 7
• San Diego Central Library - Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, October 8-10

San Diego Central Public Library

Registration: click here The main conference will be held on Saturday, October 8 through Monday, October 10 (Indigenous People's Day) at the San Diego Central Public Library. The San Diego Central Public Library is located in the East Village, east of the Gaslamp Quarter, of downtown San Diego.

Travel information

• By trolley – If you are taking the San Diego Trolley to the library, take the orange or blue lines to the station at Park & Market station and walk south on Park Boulevard for two blocks toward the intersection with J Street. The library will be on your right after crossing J Street. If you are coming from the south or east, take the blue or orange lines to the 12th & Imperial Transit Center, where you walk on the right (east) side of the trolley tracks (there is a sidewalk). The library will be on your left and visible from the transit center. If you are taking a Green Line train into the city, you will also want to get off at the 12th & Imperial Transit Center. From the green line platform, walk toward the eastern end of the platform, where you can reach the Blue and Orange lines platform. Cross under the MTS building and then follow the aforementioned route.

• By bus – If you wish to take a bus to the public library, you have three options. The first is the 11, which runs through downtown from San Diego State University and Bay Terraces. The 929 bus runs from Iris Transit Center and also runs right next to the entrance where registration will be. The third bus that runs to the library, the 901 also begins at Iris Transit Center and runs through Imperial Beach.

• By car service/taxi – For those who are being brought in by car services such as Uber or Lyft or taxi and limo services, the suggestion would be to ask them to let you go at the junction of 11th and K streets, at which point, you can walk up the stairs right to the registration desk in front of the Morgan Auditorium.

Balboa Park

Balboa Park

Preceding the main conference, the Wiki Culture Crawl Day will occur on Friday, October 7. The focus is on the Balboa Park museums and other cultural institutions. Registration will be at the San Diego Art Institute beginning at 9:00 a.m. See Wiki Culture Crawl  for details.

Travel information

• By trolley – Due to Balboa Park's location, there is no direct trolley service to the campus. However, you may take the Blue or Orange lines to the City College station, and walk up Park Boulevard to a bus stop on the east side of the road, where you can catch a 7 bus to Balboa Park.

• By bus – If you are coming from downtown, the 7 is your best bet for travel. You may get on from the Hall of Justice, Horton Plaza or at the City College Trolley station, where multiple bus lines converge. The 7 will take you to Balboa Park, and you will want to get off at the junction with Village Place. From there, you will walk on the pedestrian overpass across Park Boulevard, where you enter the Balboa Park campus.

• By car service/taxi – For those who take car services and/or taxis to Balboa Park, the driver should be directed to drop you off at the parking lot on Space Theatre Way (off Park Boulevard). If you are coming from the west, have the driver take you directly onto campus via El Prado.
