I am Pete Forsyth. I have been a Wikipedian and Wikimedian since 2006 (and using wikis since about 2003). Wikimedia is both a personal passion, and central to my professional career. Here are a few items that connect to WikiConference North America:
- I presented Fighting Fake News with Real Information: Newspapers on Wikipedia at WikiConference North America 2019.
- Along with Shanluan, I'm working on the News on Wiki (NOW) campaign, as part of the WikiCred grant program, as of mid-2020.
- I wrote "Trusting Everybody to Work Together," an essay on the lessons from Wikipedia's first 20 years, for Wikipedia at 20, a forthcoming book edited by Joseph Reagle and Jackie Koerner.
- I wrote "How Wikipedia dodged public outcry that plagues social media platforms," to highlight some of Wikipedia's strengths to a broad audience; it was published by Misinfocon, sponsor of WikiConference North America 2019, in early 2020.
For more about my work with wikis, see my user page on English Wikipedia or my bio on my business web site.
