- Abstract
Vassia Atanassova, User:Spiritia got the idea to start this challenge from the 100happydays challenge. This was a successful presentation at the Wikimania 2015. She started 100wikidays earlier this year and now it has become a craze. 77 people have started 100wikidays at least once and 14 out of them have successfully completed it. 100wikidays is a personal challenge in which a Wikipedian commits to create at least one article a day for 100 days in row. Wikipedians are required to follow some rules and add the articles they create in the page about 100wikidays on Meta.
The Rules are:
- No missed days and no catch-ups.
- No preparation of articles in advance.
- But also: Ignore All Rules
This challenge has helped almost every participant in increasing their contribution. I personally did not write much articles. But as i joined the challenge, i felt obligated to create an article everyday and i loved it. I created articles on random topics such as Popeye, Teoutihuacan, Dowry System in India.
One of the best things about the challenge is that this is a personal challenge and we are not competing with anybody else but with ourselves. "The only competition worthy of a wise man is with himself." -- Washington Allston
There is a specific Facebook group for editors to share their articles with the other participants.
Jimmy Wales also mentioned the challenge during his talk at Wikimania 2015.
