Indiana War Memorial Museum

Description

The Indiana War Memorial Museum, located within the Indiana War Memorial in downtown Indianapolis, contains over 30,000 square feet of exhibit space dedicated to Indiana’s military history. Visitors are taken on a historic journey spanning from the Revolutionary War into the most recent military conflicts, connecting to the past through displays featuring original artifacts which include battle flags, weapons, and personal effects of Hoosiers who served our country.

This tour provides a docent-led Indiana War Memorial historical overview presentation in Pershing Auditorium (if not in use for an event) followed by an overview of the Shrine Room. Once the Partial Guided Tour is completed, the group has the option to proceed to the Indiana War Memorial Museum for a self-guided tour with any remaining time they have allotted. A partial-guided tour offers members of the group the opportunity to develop an understanding and appreciation for the construction, function, and mission of the memorial through the guided portion, and then allowing for individuals to focus on areas of the museum that are of interest to them and dedicate more time to viewing these areas at their own pace.
