Abstract

In 1912 then Gov. John Shafroth called a special session of the Colorado Legislature in August and held them until a package of progressive reforms were adopted, one of which was the Colorado Caucus.

The first Colorado Caucus was then held in 1914 and it has been held every 2 years ever since, most recently last March 1.

Rank and file party members are given much more power by the system. It is the best chance the common person has for serving in elected public office. As a result, powerful forces have been attempting to destroy the system ever since. (For more see the article "Colorado Caucus.")

In my presentation I'll explain this history briefly, review current problems, and then present ideas about what could be done with Wikipedia to coordinate with the political parties and the media to provide better outreach to newcomers to Colorado and just newcomers to Colorado politics, and what could be done to take advantage of the power of Wikipedia to provide overnight reporting of results. A test for 2018 and 2020 will be proposed. A written questionair will be distributed and open discussion will be used to fill any remaining time.
