Politóloga, feminista y wikipedista, desde 2011.

Directora de Wikimedia México y fundadora de Editatona, proyecto de reducción de brecha de género en Wikipedia, nacido en México y replicado en países de Iberoamérica.

Se ha presentado en las principales universidades públicas y privadas de México y distintos recintos para hablar de conocimiento libre, proyectos Wikimedia, e inclusión tecnológica. Ha dado conferencias en Argentina, Chile, Hong Kong y Brasil sobre la brecha de género en la tecnología.

Ha escrito artículos en publicaciones especializadas como XRDS: Crossroads, The Association of Computing Machine Magazine for Students, GenderIt.org y Latin America in a glimpse de APC y la ONG Derechos Digitales de Chile.

Fue facilitadora en el curso “Mujer, poder y medios” del The Knight Center at the University of Texas at Austin.

Carmen Alcázar is a political scientist, feminist, and Wikipedian since 2011.

She is now Director of Wikimedia México and founder of Editatona, a project to reduce the gender gap in Wikipedia which started in Mexico and replicated in Latin American countries.

She has appeared at universities and other venues in Mexico to talk about free knowledge, Wikimedia projects, and technological inclusion. She has lectured in Argentina, Chile, Hong Kong, and Brazil on the gender gap in technology.

She has written articles in specialized publications such as XRDS: Crossroads, The Association of Computing Machine Magazine for Students, GenderIt.org and Latin America in a glimpse of APC and the NGO Derechos Digitales de Chile. She was a facilitator of the “Women, Power and Media” course at The Knight Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
