- Abstract
Recently there have been a lot of changes to the Gadgets infrastructure and the MediaWiki ResourceLoader that powers it. Many of these changes were breaking ones that caused lots of popular scripts to stop working, even though they had worked fine without major changes for quite a few years.
There will be a short presentation that covers the major changes, why they were made, and how to take advantage of them. We'll also briefly touch on some of the technologies involved including jQuery, OOjs UI, and the resources provided like MediaWiki such as mediawiki.api and mediawiki.util.
Then there will be a workshop where we go through people's gadgets and personal user scripts, and fix them by:
- replacing deprecated code with new, modern code
- making sure they follow MediaWiki's coding conventions
- sharing with them with the world through pages like the user scripts directory.
