Further clarification requested

Hi Ken, thanks for the submission. Two questions for now:

  • Can you explain how your project defines credible news? Your proposal is very identity oriented -- are you saying that people who tend to publish credible content are consistent in doing so, and what types of content provides your ground truth in this case?

Thank you Connie. This is indeed a key question. I view Identity as a means to the end of the credible news problem. It will be a long process absent of better solutions. The issue of fake news is widespread. For example, even in a highly functional and democratic system such as that of USA, the news media are mostly operated on a very partisan way. Furthermore, even the same news can be reported with various degree of spin of actual facts, and the facts themselves can be interpreted in vast different ways depends on which news media reported. So, the credible news is the goal which can be achieved with high degree of certainty but not 100% degreemof certainty. Identity reputation is one of the best solution at this point towards a better system for credible news.

  • Can you explain why and how Wikipedia authors will create such an avatar for themselves? A 1:1 correspondence between Wikipedia user accounts and true identity does not exist.

This will be initially started as voluntarily enrollment basis. The ecosystem should be built gradually and incentive mechanism must be built to allow some good momentum. I see a smart contact system with token rewarded based on the votes of news by the audience. The "Credibility" of news shall be judged by the participants within the ecosystem. Initially, this system might be gamed by some bad actors. But, using the identity reputation, the system will evolve and eventually, a high degree of credible news system can be built.

Thanks much, -Connie, 6 April 2020
