WikiConference North America's 2017 Wiki Culture Crawl is a pre-conference event dedicated to collaborative and GLAM-Wikipedia activities in Montreal on Wednesday, August 9. The day's activities include visiting various cultural institutions in Montreal, with a focus on galleries, libraries, archives, museums, and monuments. The Crawl includes exclusive backstage tours of institutions, as well as a photo drive for participants to photograph Montreal's sites and collections. These activities also provide a unique opportunity for institutions and Wikimedians to work together to improve Wikipedia's coverage on certain topic areas.
For this year's Culture Crawl, we've made plans with McGill University and the BAnQ (Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec / National Library and Archives of Québec). The Crawl is a great way to explore and get familiar with Montreal at the start of the conference!
