About Boston and Cambridge
Cambridge, where MIT is located, is directly north of Boston.
Transportation
The MBTA provides public transportation (subway and bus) in Boston and Cambridge. MIT is located on the Kendall Square red line stop.
Lodging
The closest hotels to MIT are the Marriott and the Marriott Residence Inn.
Those on a budget might consider staying in Quincy, which is a ~30 minute T ride south of Cambridge on the same line, where rates tend to be much lower than in Boston or Cambridge. Some hotels convenient to T stations include:
- Brookside House, walk to Quincy Center
- Nova Suites, walk to Quincy Center
- Howard Johnson, walk to Wollaston
- Best Western, walk to North Quincy
