- Abstract
The ZIM file format was designed with the goal of making web content available offline, with a primary focus on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. It is a very efficient format for storing rendered Mediawiki data. (For example, all of English Wikipedia takes up about 45 gigabytes.) Several ZIM file readers are available, but they have very similar user interfaces, and many of them are rather difficult or annoying to install. I sought to unleash more power from ZIM data and to make it easier to set up offline wiki readers. I have implemented several alternative interfaces that demonstrate how new interfaces can change the experience of reading wikis offline.
