Title:
- Distributing wikis
Theme:
- Tech & Tools
Type of session:
- Presentation
Abstract:
Between IPFS, Etherum, git, mastodon and many others, experiments into distributed and/or federated Internet applications are becoming a growing trend. However, it can often be difficult to talk about, as often these systems have very different views on what the word "distributed" means. This talk will discuss what is actually distributed in these different models, and what a wiki type website would look like under different notions of "distributed". After the presentation, hopefully we will have time to have a roundtable to discuss in an imaginary ideal world, would we want Wikipedia to work like any of these systems - why or why not?

If your submission is not accepted, would you be open to presenting your topic in another part of the program? (e.g. lightning talk or unconference session)
- Maybe if I could make it fit. I would have to think a bit if I could restructure the material for that, I'm not sure it would fit.
