- Reliability of Information

Abstract:
WikiCite is a Wikimedia initiative to develop a database of open citations and linked bibliographic data to serve free knowledge. The idea is curate the collection of citations in Wikidata, or perhaps in local instances of the Wikibase platform at particular institutions. Since 2016, the WikiCite community has organized three dedicated conferences and given talks or organized sessions at various Wikimedia and external events around the globe.
In the context of WikiCon North America 2019, we propose to have a WikiCite track to bundle submissions that cover the spectrum of WikiCite activities according to common themes. These themes will be determined on the basis of the accepted submissions and could include
- WikiCite workflows (e.g. data modelling to data import, data curation, data quality control and data reuse)
- WikiCite content types (from books to court cases, newspapers, journal articles and oral citations and so on)
- WikiCite activities (e.g. from community engagement to content development, tool maintenance, documentation or outreach)
- interactions of WikiCite with Wikimedia projects or external partners
- North American and international aspects of WikiCite
Since WikiCite is an international community, we will strive to facilitate remote participation to the extent possible.
