Wikimedians in Residence Exchange Network discussion and meetup

Theme:

+ Other

Type of session:

Round Table

Abstract:

The Wikimedians in Residence Exchange Network (WREN) is a Wikimedia user group for Wikimedians in residence (WiR) or those interested in that role with GLAM or other institutions. All are welcome for this session, as you don't need to be a WiR. This discussion and meetup is meant to serve a few purposes:

  1. Present an overview of WREN, its scope, mission and its activities, including a description of its monthly calls and support network
  2. Provide a way for those interested in such a position (either an organization wishing to have one or an individual wishing to be one) to meet other WiR
  3. Brainstorm ideas of how WREN might have a more useful role or have a higher impact in the future, including how to use WREN's monthly calls more effectively
  4. Suggest ways that the Wikimedia Foundation and other Wikimedia community might work with WREN for outcomes useful to all stakeholders
  5. Discuss developments of interest or relevant to WiR, such as new technologies or initiatives on the horizon, and how the establishment of a new GLAM center for excellence via Wikimedia Sweden may affect the role of WiR
