The Opening Reception and the Wiki Strategy Nights of WikiConference North America are optional gatherings, taking place after our daily sessions, and will be held on Thursday Nov 9, Friday Nov 10, & Saturday Nov 11.
Thursday: Opening Reception + Game Night
Following the Wiki Culture Crawl, we begin quite literally with an Open Reception and Game Night, where participants and guests of honor are invited to a cocktail reception starting at 6 p.m at Snakes & Lattes Annex (600 Bloor St. W).
A loose strategic theme for the game night will be Twilight of the Bots, as a meta-game where the winners of Scrabble, Catan, etc get custom trading cards representing the various good/bad bots of a future AI-driven Wikipedia.
Friday: Global + Tech Strategy Night
After the regular conference sessions, there will be a group brainstorming session at the library focused on global strategy for the Wikimedia movement, and particularly on technology development.
Participants are encouraged to engage in distributed dinner meetups at restaurants near the library from 5-7 p.m. and craft surrealist chimeras, and then bring their new friends to reconvene for a plenary brainstorming session at the library from 7-8:30 p.m.
Saturday: North America + Hub Strategy Night
After the regular conference sessions, there will be a group brainstorming session at the library focused on North America strategy for the Wikimedia movement, and particularly on the potential for a regional hub.
Participants are encouraged to engage in distributed dinner meetups at restaurants near the library from 5-7 p.m. and reconvene for a plenary brainstorming session at the library from 7-8:30 p.m.
