Description Over the last year and a half there has been a major increase in Indy-pendent bookstore in Indianapolis! Many of them have a unique mission dedicated to creating and supporting a variety of communities and Indianapolis as a whole. We will tour 5 bookstores near downtown Indianapolis each with a unique vision and mission including: spotlighting/selling banned books and celebrating queer and BIPOC readers and authors; supporting literacy and language learning throughout Indianapolis; a space for learning, culture, and empowerment while fostering entrepreneurial spirit; queer reads and safe spaces; and diverse offerings and centering stories and authors from around the state of Indiana. Each stop will offer a tour and deep dive of the store's history and mission, and then time to browse and soak in the atmosphere! Join your guide, local Indianapolis bookstore expert and bookstagrammer @afloodofbooks (aka Jamie Flood) for a chartered ride to 5 of the city's most notable independent bookstores. Stops on the tour will include: Loudmouth Books Indy Reads Ujamaa Community Bookstore Tomorrow Books Dream Palace Books and Coffee Capacity 12 Meeting location Address: 414 W. Vermont St Meet the charter van at the circle in front of Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites IUPUI (the main conference hotel). Space is very limited, so please only sign up if you can make it on-time, and remove your name as soon as your plans change.
