Categories
May we have categories for the submissions? I was thinking we could parse the "theme" parameter of Template:WCNA 2019 Session Submission and add each submission to something like Category:Submissions/2019/By topic/Editor Recruitment & Retention. I would be happy to modify the template code to make this happen, by the way. Enterprisey (talk) 04:06, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
- Definitely! If you can modify the template code that would be much appreciated. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 04:12, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
- I've added some topical categories, and added them to the first dozen or so of the submissions. I'll continue to chip away at it, but help is welcome! I'm also thinking I might add a Phabricator request to add the Hotcat gadget to this wiki. -Peteforsyth (talk) 16:49, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

- Thanks Pete! If you're going to add the categories manually, you can significantly speed it up with AutoWikiBrowser (check if theme strings are in the submission, and then add the respective categories if they are). That being said, if Enterprisey can set the template up to do it all automatically, that would be preferred, so might want to hold off on doing all that manual work only to have it overridden.
- This site is managed by Wikimedia DC; I can take a look at adding HotCat later today, and I've assigned myself that Phab ticket.
- Also, Enterprisey - glancing at ParserFunctions I didn't see anything about "string contains" checks, so curious how you'll go about that! If you need me to install anything (String module, etc.) let me know. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 17:03, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
- Okay, categories added. I wrote some (probably awful, I dunno how to write idiomatic Lua) code that seems to work. Enterprisey (talk) 04:53, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
- SuperHamster, if you want to clean up the empty categories under Category:Submissions/2019 eventually that'd make it look a bit cleaner, but not a high priority at all. Enterprisey (talk!) 18:52, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
