Abstract:
Title: Libraries as a locus of disruption for Wikipedia
Wikipedia is well known as a solid source for facts and information but is also well known for gaps and biases. Reasons for gaps and biases are well known but not easily addressed. This session will focus on the role that libraries can and are playing in bringing a focus to gap areas, and the challenges of addressing diversity in editorship and sources.
Panelists will include: Darold Cuba, Wikimedian in Residence and Wikimedia Fellow, Columbia University Meredith Wisner, Research & Instruction Librarian for Art & Architecture, Barnard College Sophie Leveque, Social Science and Social Work Research Support Librarian, Columbia University Libraries
