Guidance for visas to the U.S.

A citizen of a foreign country who seeks to enter the United States generally must first obtain a U.S. visa. Certain international travelers may be able to travel to the U.S. for Tourism or a Visit for 90 days or less without a visa under the Visa Waiver Program.

You can use the U.S. Department of State Visa Wizard to find out what visa type is appropriate for you and/if you are eligible for the Visa Waiver Program.

You can also look up the estimated wait time for a nonimmigrant visa interview appointment at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Conference organizers may be able to give potential attendees a letter of invitation.

Conference organizers are trying to learn what other guidance and assistance to offer attendees. If you are likely to apply for a visa to the U.S., freely alert peter.meyer@wikidc.org and we will attempt to learn from experience and from other experts.
