Abstract:

In 2013, I made my first edit on Wikipedia as a student participant in Wiki Education’s nascent student program. A couple months short of a decade later, I returned to editing but this time under very different circumstances as a Wikipedia Expert for the Wiki Education Foundation. In this talk, I’d like to share the observations and challenges I have encountered learning the ropes of Wikipedia in these parallel journeys as a Wikipedia Expert and a volunteer editor.
