875 W North St,
Indianapolis, IN 46202

IUI campus buildings, with downtown Indianapolis behind. The closer brick building on the right is Hine Hall, the venue for WCNA 2024.

The main conference venue will be Indiana University Indianapolis (IUI). There may be off-site events during the Culture Crawl and evening receptions. On IUI campus, the programming will all take place in Hine Hall, with some possibility of activities at the main University Library.

Naming

As a note, our host is Indiana University Indianapolis, abbreviated IU Indianapolis, IU Indy, or IUI. This name will be used starting in July 2024. Previously, the campus was known as Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, or IUPUI, a shared campus in Indianapolis for Indiana University and Purdue University. After the campus's split, Hine Hall and the University Library will be buildings in the Indiana University system. You may still see or hear references to IUPUI; please know this is the same location!

Our main base will be the Hine Hall event center, which consists of a 373-seat auditorium, a two-story lobby area, and 6 classrooms. All organized sessions will be held in Hine Hall or the adjoining University Tower. There are an additional 3 meeting spaces and a foyer in the University Tower. Hine Hall includes a full restaurant on weekdays, a mail room, a business center, and a courtyard. There is a campus park, Lockefield Green, on the north side. It is connected by skywalks to the University Library and many other buildings. We will publish a full list of the WCNA meeting rooms soon.

Parking

North Street Garage (center), with skywalk to Hine Hall to the left.

Parking is free and included with registration for all attendees! If you are a local-area attendee or traveling with a car, just be sure to ask at the registration desk for a parking validation. You will need to park in a campus parking garage (not surface lot), and use a validated parking pass provided by the conference, when exiting the garage. Without validation, parking can be very expensive ($10+ per day!). The closest parking garage to the venue is the North Street Garage, which is connected to Hine Hall via a skywalk on the top floor.

Transportation

Hine Hall is within walking distance of the conference hotels. We will be publishing a walking route from the local hotels. The free campus shuttle, JAGLINE, can also be used by any attendees, but it will only run on the weekdays. Hine Hall is also served by IndyGo, the Indianapolis city bus, routes 3, 10, 37 (6 and 15 pass nearby), most of which pass through the Downtown Transit Center. The Indiana Pacers Bikeshare is also an inexpensive public, city-run, bikeshare network, with both traditional and electric bikes, with three docking stations within a block of Hine Hall (more here). Electric scooter rentals are plentiful, from companies including Lime, Bird, and Veo.

Nearby facilities

Facilities within Hine Hall or nearby campus buildings include all-gender bathrooms, print facilities, a post office, restaurant, food court, coffee shop, campus bookstore, library, computer labs, nursing room, multi-faith prayer room, courtyard, and green space. It is connected by skywalk to one of Indianapolis' main hospitals.
